Ensure that you reward yourself for mini goals, for example each 7 pounds you lose, buy yourself a little non food treat. 3.. Make sure that your cupboard and desk drawer at work are full of healthy treats so that you don't have any excuse to seek junk food. 4.. Make sure that you drink at least 8 large glasses of water a day, water helps you to feel full and fight of the tummy rumbles. Most people are walking around dehydrated and don't even realize it! 5.. Feeling stressed, don't reach for the chips, go for a 30 minute walk or jog, when you get back you won't feel like eating junk food. 6.. When watching television use the commercial breaks to do some exercise, whether it be stretching, jumping, walking around the house, jogging on the spot, on the treadmill or excise bike it amazing how this can add up. If you are like the average person you probably watch 2-3 hours of television a day, this means that there is approximately 1 hour of commercial breaks that you could spend exercising! 7.. When you first start your healthy eating plan make sure that you eliminate all junk food from both your house and if possible your work place. Your family and colleagues may make a fuss about this at first but you are helping them too. 8.. Keep a food diary so that you can make sure you understand the consequences of what you are eating. Sometimes we think that we are doing well, but when logging all our intakes we aren't doing as well as we thought. I find that it makes me think twice if I know that I am accountable for everything that I eat. 9.. Never eat when watching television or reading.. How many times have you managed to eat a whole packet of biscuits or a whole block of chocolate during a gripping movie or book? Avoid this situation altogether and don't eat either in front of the television or whilst reading. 10.. Take your lunch with you to work at least twice a week; this will help you to avoid situations where it could be easy to break your diet (e.g. the canteen or vending machine!)
Please remember that if have a bad day don't just give in and go back to your old habits just get straight back into this healthy eating plan. Yes you may fall off again, but in the long run you will be a lot better off than if you just give up.
