Many adults and pregnant women suffer from heartburn. Even though the name implies that heartburn is related to a heart problem, it isn't. Although some people do mistake heart troubles for heartburn. Some sufferers say it's like a chest pain that moves upwards with a bitter taste in their mouth (this is the acid regurgitation) and some describe it as a burning sensation behind the breastbone.

The burning sensation that is heartburn, can happen at many different times, whether daily or nightly, before or after eating, lying down, bending over, or straining yourself. Many pregnant women also complain of heartburn. And although the direct cause is not known - as it could be hormonal - it is attributed to the pressure on the stomach caused by the fetus.
Heartburn is also called by other names, including sour stomach, indigestion, or pyrosis. Heartburn is the most common symptom of gastro-esophageal reflux (GERD), also known as acid reflux. Whilst Heartburn is one of the primary symptoms of GERD, it is not the sole symptom. Sometimes, people get a sour taste in their mouth instead of a burning pain. This sour taste in their mouth is acid regurgitation.
Unfortunately, changes in your diet can help alleviate your heartburn symptoms, similar to natural home remedies. But the main trouble is that they do not cure the cause of heartburn. Acid reflux or GERD, and other digestive disorders, allow heartburn, and certain types of food can aggravate the pain. So whilst it does help to reduce intake of alcohol, acidic foods, tomatoes, chocolate, fatty foods, overeating etc. it is not the way to cure your acid reflux or permanently stop heartburn.
The most commonly used product for heartburn symptoms are antacids. However, prolonged use of antacids are not recommended as continually breaking up the acid in the stomach can eventually make your heartburn worse, since stomach acid helps us absorb nutrients and is the first line of defense against candida (which can lead to acid reflux and heartburn). Instead, a holistic natural remedy for heartburn is recommended so that your body's internal defense against acid reflux and heartburn, is activated.
A home remedy that is commonly known would be baking soda with water, or taking honey after meals. However, just like antacids, baking soda with water, and other home remedies are not recommended for frequent sufferers of heartburn. These remedies only provided temporary relief and are not be consumed regularly for the same reason that they target the symptoms and are not a natural remedy for heartburn AND acid reflux.
A holistic natural remedy for heartburn would help strengthen your body's immune system and other functions to be able to heal iteslf. Unlike antacids, baking soda and honey remedies, this would not only alleviate heartburn symptoms, it would also tackle the problem of acid reflux. Thus providing a more permanent solution for heartburn sufferers.
I have seen testimonials for a natural remedy for heartburn where, the remedy not only stops heartburn, it also cures acid reflux, candida infections, irritable bowel syndrome and other digestive disorders. This is because a true, holistic natural remedy for heartburn would aim at improving your health and immune system to a point where your body is able to heal itself. And in the process, the natural remedy for heartburn ends up helping your body heal other issues you may be facing.
