Your largest meals should be at breakfast and lunch. You should be consuming 4 to 6 small portioned meals at the same time each day, and be taking in less food as the day progresses. Also, grill, steam or bake your food instead of frying it.
A another key part of a successful detox diet is fruit and vegetables. They are ok in any form, from dried, canned to fresh or frozen; try to have five portions of them daily.
There are many fruits you can choose from so try as many as you can. Ones to consider include apples, bananas, grapes, tangerines, avocados, blackcurrants, cherries, clementines, dates, chestnuts, figs, grapefruit, blackberries, kiwifruit, limes, mandarins, oranges, raspberries, blueberries, nectarines, lemons, pineapples, pomegranates, melons, red currants, peaches, strawberries, plums, tomatoes or apricots.
For vegetables, there is just as a wide a choice: aubergine, beetroot, asparagus, broccoli, broad beans, carrots, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cherry tomatoes, courgette, eggplant, cucumber, cress, haricot beans, gherkin, green pepper, green beans, parsnips, peas, potatoes, red peppers, pumpkin, spinach, rhubarb, spring onions, runner beans, turnips, sweet corn, water cress, swede, and yellow pepper.
Increase your intake of grains, beans, fiber, nuts and seeds. Specifically, increase your intake of quinoa, buckwheat, lentils, brown rice, millet, chickpeas, kidney beans, pinto beans, cereal, mung beans, wholemeal pasta, baked beans, cashews, almonds, flax seed, walnuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.
Now for food types to avoid. As part of a healthy detox diet, try not to eat anything that contains sugar, processed meat, red meat, pastry, breads, wheat and any dairy products. Though they may not be outright bad for you, they are more difficult for your body to digest and process.
